We are very excited to be exhibiting our needle felt art in the Cheng-Kim Loke Gallery at the Slimbridge Wetlands Centre. Art is an important part of the Centre, building on the artistic legacy of Sir Peter Scott. The gallery has exhibitions by many local and international artists, in a variety of media and a percentage of all sales goes towards the conservation work of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.
Our exhibition runs from 15 June through to 15 September. All our pieces have been hand needle felted with mostly British sheep wools and some other fibres. Each picture is available to buy and we will be replacing any sold art during the exhibition. If you are visiting Slimbridge Wetlands Trust during the exhibition then please have a look at our art and the work of the other artists alongside us.
Well we thought it was till this nasty cold rainy spell. We’re hoping it will return soon. It’s a busy time for us, preparing and making lovely things for our Summer events.
We’ve booked a few larger shows this year as well as our regular spot at Merrywalks Craft Market in Stroud and the Suffolks Street Markets in Cheltenham. Our first big show is in July when we will be at the Cotswold Show and Food Festival in Cirencester Park. Looking forward to this event very much. Two days, 100 acres, hundreds of attractions and tens of thousands of visitors. Woah we hope we make enough goodies to cope.
We have lots of fabulous new gifts and home accessories and ideas for more things in the pipeline. How about a decoupaged paperweight or desk accessory, needle felted animal brooch as well as new needle felt pictures and fabric gifts.
Follow us on Facebook where all our diary dates can be found. We are always adding a few more. And have already started booking Christmas events. Shocking as it’s only May but has to be done. Looking forward to meeting and chatting to old and new customers. So pop by and say hello. There’s no obligation to buy and we’re very friendly.
See you soon, Clare and Jaq, aka Poody and Berty
Oh yes! It’s that mad time of year again when we are busy making lots of Christmassy things and working at all the Christmas events we booked back at the beginning of the year. It’s really gearing up now. But it’s so lovely working at Christmas Markets with all the hustle and bustle that surrounds them. We love meeting new people and talking to them.
This year has seen the introduction of our needle felts. Woodland creatures, 2d needle felt fibre art and miniature pups in baskets to name a few. We’ve really enjoyed making the Christmas animals. They are great fun! Our most popular ones are the Polar Bears and the Badgers with their home made jumpers and scarves.
Jaq is still the tea cosy queen. It’s amazing just how many tea cosies we make. We are always adding new ones to our collection. There are some amazing winter fabrics available. This one is definitely our favourite at the moment. It’s such a beautiful countryside scene in a lovely subtle grey.
And of course we are still making lots and lots of bunting. Our festive specials; mini bunting and stocking bunting. This year our jolly red and green stocking bunting is the most popular and mini Scandi red and white. Such a versatile little decoration. Here are a few ideas for where to use it. Mantle piece; window; dresser or shelves; log basket or mirror.
Why not pop by our next event and say hello. Our diary dates are posted on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/poodyberty

Hello everyone. This is our first blog so here’s a little bit about us.
Poody and Berty design and create home accessories, pretty gifts and fabulous bunting in complementary colours and styles. Poody and Berty are also known as Clare Mayo and Jaq Thompson. We are sisters and we were born in the Cotswolds where we spent a happy childhood in our small village playing in the countryside we love so much. We now both live in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley, where we enjoy working together, working on ideas and creating new things.
All our products are handmade, using designer textiles which are chosen to bring fresh ideas to your home. We are passionate about our products and are always on the look out for exciting and interesting materials to use. We are particularly inspired by vintage style themes, quirky fun prints and anything to do with nature.
We also love to needle felt and we make lots of fabulous animals ad stand alone pieces of art or as a fun gift of collectible.
At the moment we are working on Autumn and Winter themed products using fabric with pheasants, stags and Autumnal styles.
